I got it (a 1994 model) NOS in 2008 for $100 (the first picture), and it's been slowly evolving ever since. I really like the "look" of it now, but haven't ridden it enough yet to know if the drop bars will really give me the road feel I'm looking for. The primary use of the bike, incidentally, is a 34-mile round-trip commute.
EDIT: Looking at the two pictures, I realize that the only things that are original on the bike are:
The frame,
The fork,
The seat post,
The rear derailleur & cassette (and I'm considering changing those out)
I still have the original parts (including original 1994 tires) and could revert back to the NOS configuration, but like I said it's been evolving steadily and I really like the changes I've made to the bike. The frame, incidentally, is pretty near perfect as far as I'm concerned, and is just as good as a new LHT frame, except it doesn't have the spoke holders for spare spokes.
As someone that's planning on converting an older hybrid to a touring bike, I appreciate your build.
