Well here it is the next morning, 5 AM, and just me on the forums again. I'm going to do what I did yesterday--it was successful.
I just stayed up, looked up the time of sunrise and stepped out on the porch to see if the sky lit up--it didn't, but about an hour later it did. Then about 7 I put my overdue library books in my Giant Igauana's panniers and rode off to the City Market where I had coffee and a "Hearty Italian Sandwich" (grilled) at the City Market Coffeehouse. Yummy!
Then on south to Westport and though I wondered about lugging ten pounds of books up the three-quarter-mile (1.2-km) Hospital Hill, I think it was the easiest ride up the hill I've ever had, including years past.
The day may have been the most perfect for cycling I've ever experienced: about 55 degrees, light breeze, gorgeous but not blinding sunshine, very little traffic (resulting in easier breathing), just a joy to be out on a bike.
I did get a fair case of Hearty Italian Heartburn on the way home, but that happens no matter what I eat. Had to stop once and rest on a series of hills in the home stretch, but that's OK.
Today, I intend to take my road bike out. If weather permits. Last I looked, they said 80% chance of thunderstorms!
