A tip for inflating: Unscrew top and give it a little bump to make sure it's loose before putting pump head on.
I wonder whether you're supposed to unscrew it all the way or as little as possible for inflating. First time using presta as well. Every time I am done inflating and am removing the pump, a lot of air escapes.
