I really thought that the salient point to biker7's post was that cyclists who don the "cycling togs" are subjected to the action of cagers who find the cycling look off center.
More to the point, it really seems to be a geo-demographic issue than anything else. In some towns, walking into a bar after a ride with spandex shorts, coolmax jersey, cycling shoes and a bad, bad case of helmet hair is very common place. In other places, you'll get the stink eye.
I thought this was an interesting topic since road cycling is seeing a strong resurgence in this country. Will geo-demographic attitudes change if US exposure to cycling increases? Hard telling not knowing, but I suspect there will be a change in due time ...more so if LA wins number 7 this July.
