But if I am further away, and the deal is pretty obvious (like a Schwinn World Voyageur for $50), I might sweeten the pot to encourage the seller to hold it long enough for me to get there. Me too.
I think the best advice anyone can get is to "jump on it" - even at night, in the rain, across town. I've had a couple "mornings after" doing that (undisclosed dents, broken DRs) - but by and large, it pays off.
