" Titanium bikes rides like steel bikes, just lighter and way more expensive"

" Titanium bikes rides like steel bikes, but lighter and way more expensive. " I over heard this statement from someone at the shop I visited.
Does this realy summarize the Titanium ride quality? Also, he said cabon is the way to go, for a much more "livelier ride".

I've been thinking of buying a lighter bike than my current steel bike (1992 Schwinn Paramount PDG), and I'm set to get a Titanium frame, but with that statement above (if true), I think I might as well keep my steel bike.

I don't race, but I do long rides and I would like to try out lighter bikes for a change (cabin fever? ).

Thoughts?
