road pedals on a touring bike

I guess I don't get along with Sidi MTB shoes. I've tried 4 different pedals and my feet are killing me when I get off the bike. I have the Time Z mtb pedals on the bike now, which has a good size platform, but still have pain. So I thought I would put LOOK road pedals on the bike. I have them on my road bike and I don't have any problems at all. Do any of you use road pedals on your touring bike? I can see where they would be a pain on a commuter bike because of all the stopping, but what about a touring bike where your not walking around a lot?
