I've been running a Blackburn Mars 4.0 since last year. Nice light, very bright, uses two AAAs. I got caught in some summer evening downpours, and this light worked just fine.
Any bad news: The button is quite small. Wearing full fingered, winter gloves, I have trouble pushing the button. There are only two modes, steady, and flashing. No Random flash pattern.
Amber side flashers. Presently $24.40 at amazon.

As for getting the attention of cell phone yakkers, eaters, readers, and coffee drinkers, I don't think anything can do that, seriously.
