Short answer is, unless it's a tandem, trike, or over 6 feet long, it's not a problem outside of rush hour. I think they've even lightened up a bit on the during rush hour thing, but you can get the whole Metro Line and bike thing at www.metro.net/news_info/publications/images/bikes_rail.pdf.
