Famous Greg Lemond quote " It never stops hurting, you just go faster. " There is a lot of truth in this statement. I noticed many decades ago that even after getting in shape enough to string together 10 centuries or longer in ten days, hills, never mind hills, cycling- always hurt. I was always suffering. My wife succinctly said of" course it hurts, your an idiot." and suggested I just go slower. I tried out this very reasonable suggestion and found that I failed miserably. I simply could not get on a bike and not push myself , but had to max out or nearly max out every time, all the time. It is my sickness. I envy the noodlers. I wish I could just slow down, enjoy the scenery and the sights , sounds and smells. Maybe someday. Maybe I need a self dialing pacemaker. Force my rate down . Yeah, that's it.
