I know it's irrational, but I'd have a hard time buying those tires based on the name alone. ravenmore once started a good thread on the marketing geniuses at Maxxis.

I like to descend very quickly, so having a tire named "Detonator" doesn't inspire confidence. That's not to say that I would rush out and buy it if it were named "Corners Like a Cat on Shag Carpeting".
