a few of our A riders(Cat 1's) were using them in a local crit and there was a commisaire who was there and teaching a class she said that we should stop allowing racers to use the technique because it is not safe.
subsequently I believe we were warned at other races but not all
the lady teaching the course is very experienced and has worked the Tour de France form what i was told
I've won a bunch of races using it over the years, including our state crit this year. Guys have won Tour, Vuelta, and Giro stages using it. It's fine in the right situations with the right rider; a heck of a lot more people crash riding in a group or side by side than do using the IAB.
