Lightweight tubes vs standard tubes
I'm putting together a set of lightweight wheels for my Madone, I've got RXL Scandium wheels (1520g) & R3 tires (185g each).
I'm considering RXL tubes, at 65g, with a 0.6 mm wall thickness.
Standard tubes are 115g, with a 0.9 mm wall thickness.
RXXL are 0.45 mm, and 50g.
Is there a big difference in durability & puncture resistance between the Standard & RXL tubes?
I'm reluctant to use theR XXL's, they seem too thin with only a 15g savings over the RXL's.
These wheels will be for longer club rides, centuries & the occasional sprint tri.
Trek Haters need not reply.
Thanks,
Peter
