I ran saw this thread on the SS&FG forum today
Bike Picture Game and thought it was a fun idea. I started browsing the pages and soon realized that I couldn't handle the ego, rants, misspellings, and general off-topic-ness that plague SS&FG. So I thought, "This would/should go really well in C&V." And really, what better way to have some fun and show off your latest build? So if you're up for it...
Here is the premise:
Name a place or thing to take a picture with your bike. First person to go out, take, and post the picture, picks the next challenge.
Here are the rules:
1) No photoshop! Post processing, cropping, resizing, etc. in photoshop is ok; changing content to fulfill a challenge, NOT OK!
2) If a challenge is not met after 1 week a new topic
may be picked by the previous challenger winner.
3) If you wish to dispute a photo:
-Quote the post you are disputing and state your reason for dispute.
-Fellow forum members will then vote to either 'accept' or 'not accept' the disputed photo.
-Votes by the original poster of the disputed photo and by the member posting their dispute will not be counted (as they cancel each other out in theory).
-First three votes accumulated to 'accept' or to 'not accept' will settle the dispute.
-If accepted, the new challenge (if stated) will stand.
-If not accepted the old challenge is still active.
4) After any comment, please put the current challenges at the bottom so everyone can stay up to date.
5) Pictures must be taken AFTER the challenge. Rare exceptions such as pictures taken on the said day BEFORE the challenge may be accepted only by 3 acceptance votes.
6) The following types of challenges are NOT allowed:
-action shots (any picture where the bike is in motion, let's try not to kill or injure ourselves)
-duplicate challenges
-illegal challenges
7) If a picture has been posted but a new challenge has not been picked, the current challenge is still active until (a)new challenge has been picked or (b) another rider posts another picture satisfying the challenge and picks a new challenge.
8) We'll have a 3 tier challenge system that follows:
-Easy Challenge: something that anyone with a bike and a camera can do
-Moderate Challenge: something that might take a good deal of looking around and traveling around town, or can only be done on a special day etc.
-Difficult Challenge: not just anyone can do this. It might be specific to a certain group, region, past time, etc.
9) If you would like to require C&V to be the content of the challenge, then specify it. Make your intention clear. Word your challenge like, 'your C&V in front of ...' or 'your vintage ride with ...' or something similar. If it doesn't matter to you, then don't specify it, just say 'your bike in front of ...' or 'your ride with ...'
Here is why:
The intention of this game is to get out there, bike, have fun and show off your rides.
So to recap ... see a challenge, go out and complete the challenge, post photo, replace completed challenge with a new challenge of your own making.
To start things off I'll put up the three I liked the best from the SS&FG thread:
Easy: Bike in front of (your) city limits sign
Moderate: Your bike in profile view with the sun rising behind it. Street cred points for multiple bikes in the shot
Hard: A senior Citizen posing with your bike (like standing behind it, etc) - BONUS points if said citizen is wearing a flat cap, [C&V addition] DOUBLE BONUS if said citizen is wearing vintage tweed, TRIPLE BONUS if said citizen can remember buying your make/model new and riding it wearing aforementioned flat cap and tweed.
