EDIT ^^^ good point about wheels, but lots of cheep wheels are still strong - just heavy.

Thanks for all the good advice people. I came up with another thought as well. I weigh 260. I am a bit worried I might be too heavy for any of them. I was thinking what if I went with the CAADX cyclocross and threw on 700x32 road tires? Tiagra components, a bit more upright position, just over a grand, cool matte black finish. Doesn't the wider tire make for a smoother ride? I would be willing to trade off top speed for comfort
Weight-wise you should be fine. Bikes aren't that fragile and they usually have lifetime warranties on the frame. Check with the lbs if you are uncertain but I don't think you need to worry about weight. The CX is more race oriented but ride it and see what you think. The wider tire option would make for a smoother ride. Caadx is a nice bike too.
