EDIT ^^^ good point about wheels, but lots of cheep wheels are still strong - just heavy.

Weight-wise you should be fine. Bikes aren't that fragile and they usually have lifetime warranties on the frame. Check with the lbs if you are uncertain but I don't think you need to worry about weight. The CX is more race oriented but ride it and see what you think. The wider tire option would make for a smoother ride. Caadx is a nice bike too.
