I went with the steel version. I'm a masher. I'm glad I did because the bars are now on my Sports and it'll take some yankin' and stompin' to get it up some of these hills. The bars seem great for sprinting and climbing. I really need to get around to replacing the 18t on my AW hub with a 21t or thereabouts.
Thx, i think if I had it to do over I'd go with the 700c with a fatter tire. My train of thought was along the lines of the original path/racers had 28in wheels so I thought the 27's would be close, not that the 700c's are that far off. Who knows what goes through my brain sometimes.
I've put about 10-15 miles on it and it's a blast to ride. Like I said it's going to be a social rides bike and pub crawler and I think it will be perfect for that purpose. I thought about a front brake but went without it instead. If I lived where there were some big hills I may have gone with a front brake, but we don't have that problem here around Dallas. Besides I survived my childhood with only a coaster brake doing a lot more stupid things then I do now.
