What if I had an indexed 6spd DT shifter and let's say I "assigned" a middle position of the shifter as 2nd gear in the IGH hub, all the way loose as 1st, all the way tight as 3rd. Would this work? How accurate would all the way tight and all the way loose need to be? I'm pretty sure 2nd middle position would be alright but would the indexing near all the way loose/tight throw off 1st/3rd gears?
I've always wanted to do this (with a friction shifter), but I've wondered how much margin for error you have in 2. Is it an EXACT spot, or anywhere in a 1/4 inch (or whatever) of cable, or what?
