I've read that this combo won't work and that the 8xxx series are for the carbon cranks like SLK. However, I noticed that the diameter for both the MegaExo designed for Gossamers and the 8xxx series use diameters of 24mm. I installed it and it seemed fine. Why wouldn't they work together?

Also if I'm running a compact crank on a Ridley (68mm English)? What spacers do I need?
