Seriously, by being aware of what's happening in front, not only will you avoid crashes, you reduce your chance of getting dropped because you can react quicker to what's developing, i.e. you can see attacks start, and you can see if the people you're following are going to get gapped.

Also you can see when things are easing up, and save energy.

If you're looking just right ahead of you you're always reacting late
