Ok, I'm talking about this thread from back in 2009, your posts start page 2:

http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/forum...read_id=135372

Prior to that exchange, you had more than 180 posts on crazyguyonabike. Afterwards, there's only one post from you, and that was in reply to someone who replied to one of your earlier posts. In the above thread, you posted some angry replies to my comments regarding Rohloff hubs. Then you deleted those posts by editing them and replacing the content with '-----'. So, with that and your subsequent absence from the site ever since, yeah, I kinda look at that as "storming off". Sorry if I misconstrued, to be clear I have no ill feelings against you, other than irritation that you decided to remove your posts like that - it was (or could have been) an interesting debate, there's really no need for these dry technical matters to become so heated.

Nobody is attacking you. When someone chats about their bike on BFs it's not uncommon for someone else to ask for more feedback when they've put it to the use intended. This is called showing interest in someone's experiences.
Actually I have had several people attack me on bikeforums over the past few years (The Historian and RichardCranium, to name just two - entire threads involving those two attacking me have had to be deleted by the admins here - but thankfully they seem to have let up more recently). I just try to be helpful, contributing advice when I think I have something useful to add, and for my troubles the thread often gets derailled by someone making snarky personal remarks about me. I really don't get a lot of joy out of constantly having to explain how I'm not a shill for Co-Motion, or why I feel I have the right to talk about touring bikes at all, or having people come after me with sleazy personal attacks simply because of my left-leaning politics and anti-religion stance. Frankly I'm tired of it, and I think I'll maybe just stick to crazyguyonabike in future. I don't stand for personal vendettas or obnoxious behavior there, if anybody tries pulling that kind of crap then they are thrown off the site (and I'm fully aware that some of those people I've ejected over the years probably hang out here and enjoy taking anonymous potshots at me). Whatever, I've got better things to do.

Bye,

Neil
