It all depends. All the shopping and facilities that I need are very close by and make car-free living a breeze. I looked all over the city and couldn't find a better location. And my first job here was only 3 miles away, a hilly 35 minute commute.

However, my last job was a 10 mile commute each way, with some unpleasant roads. With having to leave early for work to avoid the worst of traffic, the commute took a 3 hour chunk out of each day.

And then there is my bicycle advocacy work. Unfortunately for me all the meetings were downtown, 7 hilly miles away at night.
