Regardless, with the unfairness in tire sizing, the 27x1's may come as a shock. The 27x1" Specialized Turbos made back in the 1980's measured less than 15mm wide, and I have a pair of Wolber 27x3/4"s that look equivalent to any 700x20C in width when pumped up to riding pressure.
