For me, it depends on whether I have and will be either sharing or taking the lane.

If I've been sharing and will continue to do so after the intersection, I continue lane sharing right up to the intersection but slow down a bit when passing stopped traffic and watch carefully for right lurchers when passing cars that are about to stop.

If I've been taking the lane or will be taking it beyond the intersection, I get in line. If the backup is so long it will require multiple signal cycles to clear, I do try to pass on the right, make it through the intersection, take a pause until the light cycles again, and take my place at the back of the line.

This may not fit every state law or local ordinance but, but meets my own standards of common sense, courtesy and smooth riding.
