Measure the space between the rear dropouts. I'm thinking that a 1995 bike will probably measure 135mm. That's the current mountain bike standard too. If that's the case, you need a new rear wheel or to rework your present rear wheel to accept the wider 8-speed freehub body. You'll also need new shifters and a new chain. You might also need to replace your front derailleur, but I kind of doubt it.
