^ Well, the pic didn't do the bolt attachment justice, but your description above brought back the memory more clearly. Yes: ours did have two bolts coming from the right and left, with the nuts threading on in the limited space available in the middle. Definitely I didn't intend to offend - that's not DD's MO.

I recall for sure this dopey post now, and as I noted in my original post, it was a PITA. IIRC, we did one side at a time, getting the right side in alone, threading the nut on a little ways, then pulling the threaded bolt outwards so that we could put the left side in and get it's nut on. From then on it was a matter of dinking around with both nuts a turn or two on alternating sides until it was tight enough to then play with the fore/aft and tilt adjustments.

The bike with this post was sold over a year ago, so I didn't - and don't - have the benefit of a visual, but that's the way I remember it now. Gettin' old...
