I think you have the clamps reversed side-to-side and upside down. I've seen a couple like that, and they didn't look like what you have pictured. Unless I'm wrong which is ALWAYS a possibility.
I kept thinking that too, except the inner clamps are permanently attached and you can see the slot on the post that allows adjustment of the saddle angle.
All is well now, this Lotus is going up for sale so it's the buyers problem. If the buyer does ask, I will refer them to this post.
