Start of collegiate season at Rutgers. Got 3.5 hours of sleep and toughed it out.

In the ITT, i thought i had the time for the best in the C field, but i apparently didn't. Oh well. I also couldn't hit my 5' power numbers, which is aggravating to say the least. For now, i'm chalking it up to the lack of sleep.

In the crit, the wind was blowing so hard it felt as if we were riding in Clogland. Four corner crit, with a 135 degree turn 50 meters from start/finish. Started in really bad positions. For the first four laps, i was yoyoing off the back and spending a ton of energy. This is obviously bad. With each additional lap, people kept on getting shelled and i had to dig in to latch on. I finally had enough and decided to burn a big match and go to the front. By this point, the field got whittled down to 20 people from 50.

On the lap prior to the prime or the prime lap itself (can't remember), cat 2 MTB teammate (technically a 3, but first race on the road) attacked. I sprinted to the front of the chase, slid over, slow pedaled, and no one did anything until 20 seconds later. Whenever four people passed me, i'd do the same manuver. Rinse, lather, repeat. I must have done it for 2-3 laps. One of the idiot chasers shouted at me to chase down the break and i just laughed at his dumbass. Played the blocking game until the last lap when my teammate was caught. By then, i was too tired from the active blocking to jump onto the winning break of 8. Teammate (who's blown by then) got 9th and i got pipped at the line to finish 11th.

I'm really enjoying this as this is the first time i have team support. To boot, i set a new (although still dismal) 30' power record.

Caught behind a two-woman crash in the sprint but I came around and still finished top-10. Teammate took the win. Good times.
Good stuff. Didn't realize it was pouring out there this morning.
