Material doesn't really matter. I havent been able to tell the difference between a carbon and aluminum seatpost. I ride a Thompson Elite right now and it works just fine (I ride a Cervelo R3 for reference). Their reputation is akin to Chris King headsets. Its built pretty solid and will outlast the bike. The adjustment is nice on it too.
