SORA is not junk, you'll find most detractors have not owned sora, I had many trouble free miles with it, the much hated thumb shifter is really quite handy when riding on the hoods which is where MOST PEOPLE RIDE, go check it out for your self before writing it off if money is an issue.
Agreed. Even Shimano's lowest component group are good quality pieces.
"If" OP gets a Sora bike, it's not the end of the world.
Granted, I would suggest at least Tiagra & up, but Sora is not junk.
It worked fine for me until I decided to go all the way and jump to Dura-Ace.
