I only have years of seat of the pants experience. How many high end CF bikes have you ridden in ultra-distance events to make your observations**********?
You are correct that how the frame is designed makes a huge difference in how any bike rides but I think you are comparing apples and oranges. I'm not too sure about the inter-relationship between lateral stiffness and the materials vibration dampening abilities. I'm pretty sure they are two different things.
