I ride eggbeaters on my tracklocross rig. Excellent pedals, super light, 4 contact points to clip into. Never had a problem skidding on them until I put cross tires on. Pretty easy to clip into, just kick forward and push down. You'll get the hang of it really quickly if you're used to clipless pedals. The cleats follow the standard SPD pattern.

The only issue I've ever had with them is when I put too much pressure in the forward direction (like one might if one skids constantly), they tend to unclip every once in a while.
