Budget hawks: Does US need to give gas and oil companies $41 billion a year?

Since there's so much talk about cutting spending in Washington, how about reducing the subsidies given to the gas, oil and coal industries? I say cut all of the following except for the fifth one.

Federal Subsidies

Oil and gas: $41 billion

Coal: $8 billion

Nuclear: $9 billion

Ethanol: $6 billion

Renewable fuels: $6 billion
