But you would know how the shoes feel on your feet which is why I would test ride a bike even if it is a short distance to get a since of how the bike feels. By the way, some shoes can be adjusted. Foot boards or orthotics can be added if the problem with the shoe is that the arch doesn't fit. There are spacers that can be added to the heel area if the foot is slipping. Different socks can also make a difference. So, I wouldn't say it is flawed logic.
