The first may or not have been in the keys, towards the top I crossed a bridge over a canal, and saw a suspicious stick floating in the water i got out and went down to the edge of the water, and tried to make out what it was. I couldn't tell what it was. A boat came down the canal and all of a sudden the drifting stick started moving counter current or breeze. It was a gator. But it may have been just above the official keys.

If it was salt water, then they were probably crocodiles. There are some crocodiles in the keys, but they are very rare.
