I'm not saying that you haven't lost weight. I'm not even saying that HIIT could have lost weight for you faster - because in the physical condition you were in, it might well have killed you! But for people who can do HIIT correctly, which may or may not include you, research says that on average it will tear fatty tissue away a lot faster than steady state cardio. If you're upset by this, you really shouldn't be.
As for needing "tapes" - no. HIIT is pretty damn simple - you can learn the protocol easily from one of the original research papers or the glosses on them on the net. You don't even need bikes, just a little knowledge, a decent cardiovascular system, and a lot of willpower.
