I don't know that I'd follow the Trans Am trail exactly through Colorado. Instead of following CO 96, I'd follow US50. A little more traffic but far less lonely. Sugar City to Tribune, KS is a long lonely road. This route at least has places to get water...all bad...and food. I'd be tempted to follow US50 (or close to it) all the way to Hutchinson. More stuff to see and more towns. Go to the Salt Museum in Hutchinson.
