New frame, top tube 1 cm too long or short?

I wanna buy a fuji because it's a great deal for me (especially with my team discount) but with thier geometry they have size 52 w/ 53 cm tt and 54 w/ 55 cm tt. I'd like a 54 cm top tube (as per several online calculators and testing on different bikes). So which is the better choice, size 52 w/ 120 mm stem or 54 w/ 100 mm stem? Right now I'm leaning toward the smaller frame (weight, looks really, gonna be a race bike ) but what different characteristics should I expect with a longer/shorter top tube. What changes with the frame length? My seat setback should be the same in each case (as are the chain stays on the bikes and my seat height will be the same (just a lil less seatpost on the larger frame)), mainly wheelbase and stem length changing I think? Thanks for any help.
