The fact that the reach feels a bit long may be due in part to your familarity with a MTB type geometry. I felt the same way when I got my first roadie but grew used to the feel of the longer, lower feeling throughout my body on the bike. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to experiment with fit and possibly consult your LBS on the fit of the bike.

Try to keep everything black or muted colors, looks stealthy that way .
