You've forgotten only that modern bikes can come in well under the UCI weight limit, so pro-teams can adopt discs without a weight penalty. Yes, the bikes will cost more. But it will be worth it to try sell lots of clones to amateur racers. That, I suspect, is the plan...
Advances in road disc technology will show up on cross bikes first, because that's where the first pros to use them will be (or are already). It may creep over into road racing bikes but there won't be a significant number of disc bikes until a significant number of pros run them. I don't see that happening any time soon.
