Can I post here now?
I've mainly just lurked in C&V for the most part, since I've never had much to add. I've been on the lookout for an older lugged steel road bike for a long time now. I guess I've fallen in love with how they look.
So then the other day I saved a 1980 Fuji Sports 12 from the dumpster behind my apartment complex. It was in pretty rough shape, having sat outside for who knows how long. so I brought it home, and now I'm in the process of cleaning it up. It needs a lot of work, but it's not beyond saving, at all. I just finished tearing it down, and all the original components look pretty good, though there's some rust to be taken care of on the chrome bits. Frame looks good inside and out, save for some scratches. As I can afford it, I'll get it rolling.
It's a little (Ok, more than a little) too big for me, but it's top tube length seems pretty close to what I find comfortable. I'll just have the seat set pretty low. I know it's not a particularly good bike, (It's Hi- tensile steel) but hey, I think it's cool, and it gave me sad bike eyes. Yay project bike!
