My trials bike uses hydraulic rim brakes and once you learn how to bleed them, it isn't very hard, the kit to do it only set me back about $25, and the stopping power is absurd. But I personally see no reason to run disc brakes on road bikes. Your life isn't relying on the stopping power of your brakes on every single move like in trials.
