Glad there was a happy ending. I was just about to post that I agreed with rhm.

One of the messiest hubs I've worked on was on an old Triumph I gave to my sister-in-law. It worked ok, though it seemed a bit sticky, and I was going to just add oil, but when I got it apart, it was filled with gunk and grit, and had a broken pawl spring.

The first one is the hardest. It's possible to take pictures with a digital camera whilst dismantling to help with reassembly, then delet the pictures when you're done. Or watch Graham's videos for review.
