The hard thing is, if what you end up with isn't exactly what you want, you end up spending more money to make it what you want and may end up spending more than what you would have if you'd just bought the pricier thing to begin with. So frustrating.
You hit upon a good point. Also people often talk themselves in spending less and aren't later satisified. So they end up buying a high end bike later.
