Even I wouldn't agree with, "bike lanes are the antithesis of being treated as drivers of vehicles."

But I think you're on to something. We should figure out exactly what it is that we do agree and disagree on.

So we have established that we agree: "Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles". That's great.

Does anyone DISAGREE with Al's axiom: "Many bike lanes implementations can often make it more complex or ambiguous to be treated as a driver of vehicle"? I certainly do not disagree.

Does anyone disagree with this statement:

"All bike lanes are based on the concept that cyclists should be segregated from vehicular traffic, at least on the roadways that have bike lanes". (if you do disagree, can you describe a bike lane, real or hypothetical, that is not based on this concept?).
