Apparently bikes in the lobby are a fire hazard. I guess it could impede the mad stampede out of the building in the event of an actual emergency.
Well, according to the building standards or fire codes, etc., x-number of feet must be made available in case of a fire and anything blocking that is a fire hazard. That's why there's a limit on the # of people in a bar/club, that's why when you were in grade school, you had to made a center and side aisle, etc., etc.
Hehe, I'm typing this from my corner cubicle where I got my bike against the wall. No complaints from management here.
