The mantra about vehicular cyclists "faring best" is only a vague opinion, at best; as NO definition is made of WHAT constitutes "faring best," nor are any metrics even mentioned (let alone gathered) as to how this conclusion could be validated. Constant repitition of the "faring best" mantra does not make an opinion true, no matter how self evident it may seem to a handful of zealous Vehicular Cycling enthusiasts/proseltyizers (AKA "we").
Who is represented by WE, or what percentrage of bicyclists (and their opinions) is excluded from the opinion WE agree upon is irrelevant to this discussion. WE believe that abiding by the vehicular rules of the road is better than not abiding by them. We agree that the limited data that is available regarding this topic tends to support our belief. We find in our own experience that our belief seems to hold.
