Before I bought the Randonee I strongly considered the 520. 520 would have been the better choice due to more appropriate gearing but the Randonee was on sale for considerably less. I note that Trek now offers a wide array of "urban" bikes including some with belt-drive & some with disc brakes & some with IGH. & the prices for such models are reasonable. But their website doesn't even have a "touring" category, only the "520" as if it was something left there for the few insiders who already know what to look for. Still wondering why discs are good for commuters & off-road but not for touring.
