I didn't see it mentioned (maybe I missed it), but Amtrak comes through Anniston about 4 PM, I think, and gets to Atlanta about 7:30. You would still need a bike box, don't know if the Anniston station is big enough to stock them... Would beat a bus for sure, and you could have a celebratory drink in the club car!
