well this is a timely revival of this thread. Just today I was needing to put my road bike up on a rack of some sort to work on fixing a leaking rear tire. I took a few minutes to figure out a very simple way to attach a service rack to my A-frame rack that holds the bikes. I screwed three pieces of 2 x 6 together with a V-groove cut in one to hold the bike. I use a soft bungee cord to keep it in place. And when it is not in use, I simply slip it off and prop it across the brace that it attaches to.
