Campy Upgrade

I am in the process of purchasing a new steel frame and am trying to decide whether to transfer my 9 speed mix of Campy Chorus/Centaur (derailiurs, shifters, and brakes date back to 1996 and bottom bracket, crankset and cassette are several years old) from my existing frame and then sell the existing frame or to upgrade to a newer 10 or 11 speed Campy groupo and sell the existing bike as an entire one. If I go 10 speed I'd go Centaur, but if I were to go 11 speed I don't know whether to go for the Athena or spend the extra on Chorus. I'm assuming that there have been many improvements over the past years so that the new Athena would be a big improvement over the older Chorus/Centaur. Is the Athena comparable to the Centuar. I'd also like to get some advice on whether 11 speed is overkill. I ride several days a week - 15 to 40 miles each time with a fair amount of climbing.

Thanks
